Description

These Air Fryer Protein Bagels are a quick, healthy breakfast option combining Greek yogurt, protein powder, and self-rising flour for a soft, protein-packed treat. Made in the air fryer, they have a golden crust with optional toppings to customize each bagel.

Ingredients

Scale

Bagel Dough

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup self-rising flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder + ¼ teaspoon salt)
  • 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla protein powder (about 25g)

Toppings and Egg Wash

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In a medium bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, self-rising flour, and protein powder until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough: Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth.
  3. Shape Bagels: Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope approximately 6–8 inches long, then pinch the ends together to form a bagel shape.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Set the air fryer to 350°F and let it preheat.
  5. Prepare Bagels for Cooking: Brush the tops of the bagels with the beaten egg and sprinkle with your choice of toppings.
  6. Air Fry: Place the bagels in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Work in batches if necessary.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bagels to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute plant-based yogurt with similar thickness.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Bagels can be frozen for longer storage; thaw before serving.
