Description
Deliciously sweet and buttery Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots that are tender, caramelized, and perfect as a comforting side dish for any meal or holiday feast.
Ingredients
Scale
Carrots
- 2 pounds carrots, peeled and cut into 2-inch sticks
Glaze
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Boil the Carrots: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the peeled and cut carrots. Cook for 6–8 minutes until they are just tender but not mushy. Drain the carrots thoroughly to remove excess water.
- Prepare the Glaze: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and optional ground cinnamon until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes bubbly.
- Glaze the Carrots: Add the drained carrots to the skillet and toss them in the glaze to coat evenly. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots become glossy and caramelized.
- Serve: Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for garnish, and serve warm.
Notes
- Baby carrots can be used for a convenient shortcut.
- For a citrusy twist, add a splash of orange juice or orange zest while glazing.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with roasted meats and holiday meals.
